Design App
The Design App is the touch-friendly interface for the design and sample room — the one the team actually uses on a phone or tablet while they're at the cutting table, the fitting mirror, or on a call with the brand. It runs at /garments/design on your GarmentFlow site and talks to the same database as the Frappe Desk, so anything posted from the app shows up immediately on the Desk for everyone else.
It's installable on a device like a native app, but it's still a website underneath. That means no app store, no install package, and updates land the next time the user opens it.
Open or install it
Open App ↗ (opens in a new tab on this site, at /garments/design).
On iOS Safari: tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
On Android Chrome: open the ⋮ menu, then Install app (or Add to Home Screen).
Once installed, the app launches like any native app — full screen, no browser chrome, its own icon. Pin it to the dock or home screen so the designer can reach it without thinking.

Logging in
Designers and sample-room users log in with the same Frappe user accounts as everyone else. Log in once, the session persists, and every action — a photo, a measurement, a feedback note — is attributed to that user. The audit trail just works.
One user per person. Shared logins erase the attribution and make feedback history confusing. Give every designer, sample technician, and reviewer their own user.
What you can do on the app
Create a sample
From the floor, on a phone, without going back to a desk. Pick the Tech Pack, pick the variant, and the Sample is created with Pattern and Fabric pre-filled — same as from the Desk.
Capture issues with the camera
During sample development, anything that's wrong gets photographed. Open the Sample on the app, tap the camera, snap the issue (a puckered seam, a wrong shade, a hood that's too shallow), and the photo attaches directly to the Sample with a feedback note. The next reviewer — internal, commercial, or brand — sees the visual evidence next to the words.
Measure with voice commands
When you're holding a tape with both hands, the last thing you want is to put it down to type. The app supports voice-driven measurement: call out the POM and the reading aloud, the app fills the row. Works for both before-wash and after-wash passes — so the sample room can capture both in a single hands-free sweep.
Centralize feedback
Every comment from every reviewer — internal sample lead, commercial team, brand contact, customer — lands on the same Sample, time-stamped and attributed. No more chasing emails, no losing the WhatsApp thread, no "what did they say about the hood again?".
What's inside
The app's main views, accessed from the bottom tab bar:
- Samples — list of samples in flight, filterable by status (Requested, In Production, Sent, Approved, Rejected).
- Tech Packs — quick access to the Tech Packs you're working from, including the Create Sample shortcut.
- Feedback — recent feedback across your samples, so a designer can answer "what's open on me" in a glance.
- Settings — user, language, theme.
Permissions
The app respects the same role permissions as the Desk. A designer with the Sample User role sees the design and sample lists; a Sales Manager or Sales Master Manager sees the commercial side too. If something isn't visible that you expect to see, the answer is almost always a role missing on the user, not an app bug.
What to do next
Once the app is installed and login works, return to Samples for the conceptual model, or to Measurements and feedback for the Results-tab workflow that the app speeds up the most.
