Valuation
What it's worth, not what it cost once
FIFO or moving average, your choice, applied to raw material, work in progress and finished goods. The stock figure on the balance sheet is the same figure the warehouse screen shows.
98% stock accuracy
A quarter-end count closes in a day. What little shrinkage there is comes mostly from machine calibration and quality runs before a batch starts — not from stock going missing.

Inventory is the shelf; materials is the plan for filling it. Buying and consumption live on the materials page, the issues to cutting come from production, and every valued movement lands in costing and the ledger.
Questions
How is this different from the materials page?
Materials is the plan — what the confirmed orders need and what to buy. Inventory is the shelf — where it is, what it is worth, and whether the number is true.
Can I hold stock at a subcontractor?
Yes. An external unit is a warehouse like any other, so what you sent is still your stock and still on your balance sheet until it comes back or is consumed.
Do we have to stop production to count?
No. Count by bin or by item class while the line runs; the difference posts as a reconciliation you can explain later.
